 Welcome to Chamonix Art's cool, a structure in the Chamonix valley dedicated to the practice of drawing and painting for all ages. 

We offer activities for adults and teenagers and kids all year round and in summer art & nature activities for children.

The approach is intended to be fun and educational and allow either long-term learning or unique "experiences" linked to the exceptional environment offered by the Chamonix valley.

THE STORY BEHIND

​

 Chamonix Art School was founded by Cat Kartal, a painter who is also known for her mountain, skiing and mountaineering paintings (see catkartal.com). A graduate of the École du Louvre in Paris and a former student of the Ateliers de la ville de Paris and the Grande Chaumière.

Accredited as a teacher by the 2011 collegial agreement of the Ministry of National Education.

Committed to sharing and transmission, Catherine Kartal offers workshops for discovery, initiation and improvement in drawing and acrylic or watercolor painting. As well as unique experiences that combine graphic arts with nature and the mountains.

 

THE SPIRIT

 

Each of us feels the need to bring out our creativity in order to express our emotions, or to simply let go and relax. This is why we welcome you with great kindness, whatever your age and level, with the sole aim of your well-being and sharing the present moment, and this by insisting on the playful aspect of the approach.

WHO CAN JOIN US ?

​

The workshops are for everyone, young and old, beginners or experienced.

You can come once for an experience, alone, or with family or with friends. Or more regularly, depending on its presence in the valley.

The sessions take the form of group workshops "A la carte" or private performances on request.

 

WHERE DO THE WORKSHOPS TAKE PLACE ?

​

We welcome you in the artist's studio in Les Houches, at the foot of the Bellevue cable car. A beautiful, bright, welcoming, pleasant space which will be propice to creativity.

Access: Car -5mn from the center of Chamonix - 

Train - 15mn walk from Les Houches train station.

Bus - Bus stop in front of the workshop. Very regular shuttles - Night bus.

In the summer, we enjoy the outdoor environment, the forest that is just above our house behind the Cable-car.

 DRAWING AND PAINTING SESSIONS 

​

Classes are held in small groups with mixed levels. The approach is intended to be playful and non-academic, and in a painting workshop, everyone can evolve at their own speed and level. 

The courses are offered individually or à la carte in order to adapt to the different rhythms of people who work, travel, study and other periodic or nomadic activities... Inquire about prices and discounts.

EASTER and SUMMER HOLIDAYS

​

EASTER :

During the holidays, we organize artistic and creative workshops for children.

During these periods, adult workshops are keeping on running. 

🍂Easter: 10:30am-3:30pm

🍁5-10 years approximately.

🍄Drawing, painting, DIY, clay modelling, painting on glass, mosaic etc...

🎨Art and creation activity until noon, followed by a lunch break,  a walk and outdoor games, and then back to the art activity until it is  parents' time. 

SUMMER :

Artistic activities during the summer will be organized in the same way then during easter. So be carefull if you have been used to come to Argentière during the previous years, it will now be in Les Houches. Both for adults and for the youngest.

OTHER HOLIDAYS' OPPORTUNITIES

And if you want your children to enjoy artistic and creative activities outside of these time slots, I leave you free to organize with one or more parents

And why not a good creative session for a birthday or party? 

ADULTS => For an absolutely unique birthday, choose between our different day or night formulas, with or without cake and Champagne. Priced between €35 and €40/person. Ask for a quote.

CHILDREN => Formula without food&drinks or with it included ( for 5 children, then an extra of 10€ per child) :

Price, For about 2 hours without food&drink 130€, painting material included.

Price, for about 3 hours with snack 195€ painting material and snack included (cake and drink)

SCHEDULE OF WEEKLY CLASSES

Regular courses (except for special events):

. Wednesdays => 2pm-4:30pm, acrylic painting/adults : 33€. Card of 6 sessions : 175€

                     => 5:30pm-7pm drawing + painting / young kids  (9-15 years old) : 18€(GDP). Single session : 22€. Card of 6 sessions : 90€

. Saturdays     => 3pm-5:30pm, watercolor/adults : 33€. Card of 6 sessions : 175€

        OUR "À LA CARTE" FAVOURITES FOR GROUPS/FAMILIES/SEMINARS

​

Ready-made activities, about 2h30, suitable for everyone, for a different and unique experience in the mountains. You choose the activity, and we choose a date.

. PAINTING APERITFS, an ultra-creative and convivial moment, ideal for creating links and spending a memorable evening. Creation of a modern style painting&collage,  around an assortment of quality local products, wine, bread, cheese,  ham and saucisson.

. PAINTING & COLLAGE SESSIONS on the theme of the mountains: Starting from a mountain poster, 2 hours of creation by giving free rein to your imagination. Several techniques for this, painting, collage, sprays and poscas (acrylic markers).

. SKETCH-WATERCOLOR WALKS, on sunny days: A 3-hour easy walk to discover some magical places around and to immortalize and marvel all the little beauties of nature.

  . SIMPLE PAINTING SESSIONS to make a mountain painting, a wonderful souvenir, Mont Blanc or the Aiguille du Midi.  4 hours (1 afternoon, or 2 half-days)
